Prospect "recruits“ George Osborne, MP.”
What does he think about the potential of information technology in the hands of the citizen..........?.
When the dotcom bubble burst in 2001, reversing market conditions in which there were 5 jobs for each talented person, Prospect was obliged to look for new opportunities. The Public Sector, which then, as now, seemed in desperate need of entrepreneurial energy, seemed a good place to go.
Fast forward... After a very successful first conference in 2004 (virtual-techno.com) , Prospect, together with our partners Policy Unplugged and NMK, created WT2 (www.working2gether.net) scheduled for March 2007. We have recruited some of the most challenging and high profile speakers and thinkers and companies in order to present their views and demonstrate how innovative and entrepreneurial UK technology SMEs can play a part in transforming the public sector. As the market gathers pace with new ventures springing up daily, it faces unprecedented challenges, not least of which will be to meet citizen's expectations.
This event provides you a unique opportunity for networking and to gain first hand exposure to the leaders of a significant and growing market.
Taking place at the ICA, SW1 on March 8th, equidistant from the UK's seat of administrative power in Whitehall and its creative hub in Soho, WT2 has been developed to generate connections and conversations. It will promote co-creation between the digital technology companies who are delivering groundbreaking innovations and public policy makers, those driving public service reform agenda and civic leaders.
Featuring a morning of speakers and panels followed by an afternoon of facilitated "conversations", "how to" sessions and demos, the event aims to get people thinking about how to exploit emerging technologies to accelerate improvements in our public services.
Chaired by Peter Kellner - (Chairman, YouGov), the tone will be set by George Osborne MP - Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, delivering a keynote on 'what the social web means for the future of public services'. Anthony Lilley (CEO, Magic Lantern) will present on 'how private/public sector partnerships can and do work'; William Heath ( Founder and Chairman, Kable Ltd) will talk about e-government and technology 'what works now and what doesn't'; Mark O'Neill ( CIO, DCMS) will present 'current Government policy towards procurement innovation' and Jonathon Peachey (Partner, Digital Public) will talk about 'the world as it will be, not as it was".
WT2 will not be a "run of the mill" conference. It has been designed to foster new relationships, to initiate new "conversations" and to forge meaningful change.

Prospect
Whilst busy putting WT2 together, demand for our recruitment business has continued to grow. The common thread combines increased UK and US VC investment into new and established businesses at all levels from seed funding to public market flotation; greater IT investment sanctioned by the boards of established enterprises that use technology, and importantly new categories emerging, including among others: web 2.0; video streaming and download, mobile gaming and of course the continued growth of digital agencies. As ever, we are looking for talented and experienced people at all levels.
